Subclinical long COVID

As reiterated here, COVID19 could leave a sequel called long COVID at small but definitely certain number of patients. SARS CoV2 could damage neurogenesis at hippocampus, which results in neurological as well as psychiatric symptoms as posted earlier.

Here is another paper, preprint one, that depicts there could be subclinical long COVID. They have tested the patients with negative control with NIH Toolbox, which offeres comprehensively neurological, psychiatric and developmental tests. The COVID19 patients without subjective complaints of long COVID could suffer subclinically from long COVID.

The prognosis and course of long COVID is not well known yet. Dependent on the diathesis for senile dementia, a part of those cases could develop dementia when they get older.

Nothing is better than prevention of COVID19 and taking the vaccine. In our country, long COVID is intentionally ignored by the government/MHLW.
